What made you choose a healthcare career?
My mother inspired me when I was young. She worked as a nursing assistant in the small community hospital where I grew up; I went on to do the same and knew it was the work I wanted to do. I became a registered nurse and later a nurse practitioner. As I grew in my role, my work expanded to collaborate and influence how care is delivered.
Healthcare offers such a wide range of opportunities to work with people and their health; I really can’t imagine doing anything else.
What types of care do you provide, and what sets your care apart?
As a family nurse practitioner in direct care, I manage a wide range of health issues including screenings and preventative care, acute care, and chronic and recurring problems. I also help coordinate your care with specialists when needed.
As a leader, I work with an entire team to coordinate patient care across the health system.
What is your patient care philosophy?
I am committed to working with patients and their families to listen to what they believe they need for their health. I start wherever they are and work with them on a plan to address those needs.
As a clinical leader, I have the same philosophy to listen to and understand the needs of the community, and work with a team to create a plan to prioritize and meet those needs.
What can patients look forward to when they visit you?
They can look forward to someone who will listen and creatively work with them to address their healthcare needs and the needs of their families and communities.
