¿Qué le hizo elegir la carrera en el sistema de salud?
At an early age I enjoyed learning about bioscience, medicine and the patient care aspect of healthcare. I chose a nursing career because I wanted to make a difference in helping patients navigate through their health challenges to a better quality of life. The nursing profession was also going through transformation and offered multiple avenues for career development and the potential for advanced practice specialization.
¿Cómo influye el trabajo que realiza en el KCHC en la vida de los pacientes y de nuestra comunidad?
I enjoy the patient engagement aspect of my work and the challenge of motivating patients to engage in self-care and prevention. My primary goal is to educate and inform patients on the value of developing and maintaining healthy habits and modeling a healthy lifestyle for their family, neighborhood and community. Another goal is to ensure that the community we serve knows who we are, what we do, and why it matters.
