El KCHC recibe una subvención de $250.000 de la fundación Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment

KENOSHA, WI - The Kenosha Community Health Center (KCHC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW). This funding will accelerate the implementation of a groundbreaking project aimed at advancing health equity through an integrated medical, dental, and behavioral health care model at Pillar Health, a division of KCHC. The grant was recommended for funding by the Medical College of Wisconsin Board of Trustees in June 2024.

This two-year project will impact at least 10,000 patients and aims to redesign the care process to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations. By providing easier access to services and removing barriers to healthcare navigation, KCHC is committed to meeting the needs of Wisconsinites, ensuring affordable and comprehensive care that is easy to navigate and delivered at the right time.  

Mary Ouimet, DNP, CEO of Kenosha Community Health Center, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This grant enables us to build on the momentum created during the pandemic, allowing us to further develop and test our integrated care model, which is a hallmark of the Pillar Health brand. The Pillar Health Model can then be migrated into other communities in Southeastern Wisconsin. We are excited to enhance access to essential services and address the unique needs of our community. This project is a significant step forward in our mission to provide equitable healthcare for all.”

The AHW Momentum Grants support projects that address Wisconsin’s most pressing health challenges. The grants, each up to $250,000, were awarded through a competitive application process and are to be completed within a 24-month timeframe beginning in July 2024. AHW awarded 22 grants totaling $5,497,864 to community-based organizations across Wisconsin, focusing on both urban centers and rural communities.

In addition to community-focused projects, AHW is funding 18 research initiatives with grants totaling $4,391,041. These projects, led by MCW faculty, include efforts to combat opioid addiction, optimize HIV and syphilis screening rates, increase CPR training, and improve care for cancer and brain injury patients.

“In our twentieth year of grant-making, AHW continues to propel the most promising work and ideas to advance the health of all Wisconsinites,” said AHW Director Jesse Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH. “These 40 projects totaling nearly $10 million reflect our commitment to investing the funds entrusted to us to improve lives throughout the state.”
