What made you choose a healthcare career?
I really wanted to help people but I never was a fan of blood and things, but I was good at math, so Revenue Cycle came into clear focus. I started by learning coding and getting more experience. I just grew more and more passionate about helping others with their bills. I also learned that if I partner with the providers on coding guidelines and documentation I had less patient complaints which was a great proactive way to help both the provides and patients, from there I just was hooked and went to school to get my BSHI, and MBA.
How does the work you do at KCHC make a difference in the lives of patients and our community?
I am the most proud of helping patients get access to care. KCHC has amazing care for our patients KCHC has some amazing programs here to help cover the financial burden of these services. I have been personally involved in creating and maintaining these programs and it is so rewarding knowing the patient in our community are getting the care they need which in turn is making our community stronger.
